The valley.

The Allyn River runs along the eastern boundary. Sandstone ridgelines rise to the west, culminating at the Pinnacle, the highest point in the region at 520 metres. Between them: 1500 acres of working farmland, river flat, old-growth corridors, and access roads that wind the length of the property.

This is a working farm. Cattle graze the valley. The land operates on its own schedule, and guests move through it, not above it.

Every experience here begins and ends at the same place: the Dairy House on the river flat. From there, the land opens in every direction.

Where it is

The Allyn River Valley

The Allyn River Valley runs through the Dungog area of the Hunter region, NSW, along the southern edge of the Barrington Tops. Chessenden Farm sits at the valley floor where the Allyn River bends through 1500 acres of working cattle country. The Barrington Tops rise directly behind the property. From Sydney the drive is three hours on sealed roads. The river runs cold year-round off the Tops, and the valley holds its temperature well into the afternoon.

What the weekend at the farm actually taught us about the experience
A first real test of the three-zone journey: fire at Camp Horizon, the Pinnacle at sunrise, cold river in the afternoon. What worked. What needs designing. What surprised us.

Some things earn their name through living. The land already knows what it is.

Camp Horizon: why we chose that name
The campsite at 500 metres. The view east at dawn. The word that came to us when we stood there for the first time and realised what it could be.

Come out.

The Day's open now. Stay and Summit, soon.
